Ex-Seahawks RB Chris Carson joins Redmond H.S. coaching staff

Former standout Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson will serve as the Redmond High School football team’s running backs coach this fall, the Mustangs announced on Instagram.

Carson totaled 3,502 rushing yards, 804 receiving yards and 31 total touchdowns in 49 games over five seasons with Seattle from 2017-21. He retired in the summer of 2022 due to a neck injury he suffered early in the 2021 season.

A seventh-round draft pick out of Oklahoma State, Carson quickly emerged as one of the NFL’s most physical runners when healthy.

Carson finished fifth in the NFL in rushing yardage in both 2018 and 2019, eclipsing the 1,000-yard mark in both seasons. In 2018, he ran for 1,151 yards and nine touchdowns in 14 games. And in 2019, he rushed for a career-high 1,230 yards and seven TDs in 15 games.

Known for his hard-running, tackle-breaking style, Carson dealt with numerous injuries. He played in 49 of 81 regular-season games over his five-year NFL career and was twice limited to just four games in a season.
