Bobo’s TD indicative of season-long trend for Seahawks
Despite a drop in playing time, Jake Bobo rose to the occasion and caught one of the Seattle Seahawks' biggest touchdowns of the season in the NFC Championship.

Jake Bobo saw his playing time decrease this fall.
The third-year Seattle Seahawks wide receiver was a healthy scratch for six games and logged just 117 offensive snaps during the regular season, hauling in a mere two catches on two targets for 20 yards.

But when his number was called in Sunday night’s NFC Championship, Bobo came through with one of the Seahawks’ biggest receptions of the season.
Early in the third quarter, immediately after fellow Seahawks receiver Dareke Young recovered a muffed punt, Bobo shook Los Angeles Rams cornerback Cobie Durant on a corner-post route and hauled in a 17-yard touchdown pass from Sam Darnold to give Seattle a 24-13 lead.

It ended up being Bobo’s only reception of the night. But it’s a big reason why the Seahawks ultimately prevailed for a 31-27 win to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl.
During the Four Down Territory segment on Seattle Sports’ Bump and Stacy, Seahawks Radio Network analyst and former NFL wide receiver Michael Bumpus praised Bobo’s route-running and readiness to contribute.
“When he’s in the game, you typically are gonna run the football,” Bumpus said, referring to Bobo’s run-blocking prowess. “You’re gonna run the rock. That’s what he’s there for. But the route that he ran, the precision that he ran it with and the football that was thrown to him were beautiful.”
It was yet another example of a less-heralded Seahawks player coming through in a big way this season.
In Week 2, third-string running back George Holani recovered a kickoff in the end zone to help key Seattle’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In Week 10, after losing his starting job earlier in the season, linebacker Tyrice Knight made a fill-in start and ignited a rout of the Arizona Cardinals with a pair of strip-sack fumbles that resulted in two nearly identical fumble return scores by DeMarcus Lawrence.
In Week 16, after catching just one pass all season, tight end Eric Saubert hauled in the game-winning 2-point conversion to beat the Rams in overtime.
And those are just to name a few.
“This is why you stay ready,” Bumpus said. “Jake Bobo making that play is what the Seahawks have been all year. You never who’s gonna make a play.”
