The Seattle Seahawks are signing undrafted rookie running back Robert Henry Jr. off the Washington Commanders practice squad to their 53-man roster, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported on Monday evening.

Seahawks signing 2-time Pro Bowl RB Joe Mixon to practice squad

The 5-foot-9, 196-pound Henry is set to be the second new running back acquired by the Seahawks. Earlier in the day, reports surfaced that Seattle is expected to sign former two-time Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon to its practice squad, pending a physical.

Henry and Mixon would reinforce the Seahawks’ backfield depth after they placed starting running back Jadarian Price on injured reserve with a chest injury on Saturday, which means the rookie first-round draft pick is required to miss at least four games. The earliest Price could return is by Seattle’s Week 8 matchup against the Chicago Bears on Nov. 2.

Henry rushed for 2,339 yards and 27 touchdowns over three college seasons at Texas-San Antonio from 2023-25. He also had 428 receiving yards and three TD catches over that span.

In 2025, Henry rushed for 1,045 yards and nine TDs in 11 games for UTSA. He averaged 6.9 yards per carry, which was tied for eighth in the FBS. His most notable college performance came in the 2025 season opener, when he ran for 177 yards and two TDs against Texas A&M.

After going undrafted this spring, Henry signed with the Washington Commanders. He rushed for 105 yards and a TD on 26 carries for the Commanders in the preseason. He then was waived during roster cutdowns and signed to Washington’s practice squad.

With Price on IR, the Seahawks currently have three running backs on their 53-man roster: Emanuel Wilson, George Holani and Velus Jones Jr.

Wilson has rushed for 190 yards and a TD on 53 carries this season, while adding three catches for 39 yards and a TD. Holani has 70 yards on 22 carries and seven catches for 52 yards. Jones has played almost exclusively on special teams.

Running back Zach Charbonnet returned to practice last Thursday for the first time since February ACL surgery, but he’s still at least another week from returning to game action.

The Seahawks also have Jacardia Wright on their practice squad, but head coach Mike Macdonald said last week that he’s dealing with some health issues.
