10 numbers that stand out after Seahawks’ Week 2 win

The Seattle Seahawks rattled off 24 second-half points and rallied a 31-17 road win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, which put them back on track after last week’s season-opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

An unlikely hero: New Seahawks cornerback shines in win

Here are 10 stats that jump out after Seattle’s bounceback victory.

• 17 – The Seahawks are the only team in the NFL to allow 17 points or fewer in each of their first two games.

• 1.43 – The Seahawks’ defense has allowed just 1.43 points per drive through the first two weeks, which ranks second in the NFL.

• 227 – Jaxon Smith-Njigba has 227 receiving yards through the first two games, which ranks second in the NFL behind New York Giants star Malik Nabers. It’s also the second-most receiving yards through the first two weeks of a season in franchise history, trailing only Tyler Lockett’s 278 yards in 2021.

• 8.1 – Kenneth Walker III averaged 8.1 yards per carry against the Steelers, which was the highest mark of his career in a game with at least 10 rushing attempts. He finished with 105 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries, including five runs of at least 13 yards. It was his first 100-yard rushing performance since Week 1 of 2024.

• 5 – Cooper Kupp had five receptions that resulted in first downs against the Steelers. Last year, only once did a Seahawks receiver other than Smith-Njigba have at least five receiving first downs in a game.

• 22.2 – Josh Jobe has limited opposing quarterbacks to a 22.2% completion rate through the first two weeks, allowing just two catches for eight yards on nine targets, according to Pro Football Focus. That’s the lowest opponent completion rate in the NFL among cornerbacks who have been targeted at least five times.

• 1.5 – Byron Murphy II had by far the most productive game of his young career, recording 1.5 sacks, a tackle for loss and three quarterback hits. He’s now already surpassed multiple full-season totals from last year, when he finished with 0.5 sacks and one QB hit over his 14-game rookie slate.

• 38.5 – The Seahawks’ defense has recorded a league-high 38.5% pressure rate through the first two weeks, according to Pro Football Reference. And that’s despite Seattle blitzing at just a 10.3% rate, which is the sixth-lowest in the league.

• 3.4 – The Seahawks are one of just four teams in the NFL to hold each of their first two opponents to 3.4 yards or fewer per carry. For context, Seattle did that just twice all of last season.

• 8-1 – The Seahawks are now 8-1 on the road under second-year head coach Mike Macdonald, including a perfect 4-0 in games that kick off at 10 a.m. Pacific time. Seattle has three more 10 a.m. kickoffs this year – at Jacksonville in Week 6, at Tennessee in Week 12 and at Atlanta in Week 14.
