Wazzu revealed the “Clock Tower Collection” on Tuesday, which is a limited edition retro uniform with related merchandise. And if you remember the Seattle Sonics’ classic uniforms worn from 1975 to 1995, this will probably look familiar.
The Cougars’ alternate white Nike jerseys include a crimson arch with a “COUGARS” wordmark, very much in the style that the SuperSonics’ uniforms had. And there’s a new skyline logo that features WSU’s Bryan Hall Clock Tower in a similar role to the Space Needle in the Sonics’ most classic logo.
While the press release from the university does not make mention of any tie between the WSU Clock Tower Collection and the Sonics, it’s pretty clear that’s the inspiration here.
The Cougars will wear the alternate uniforms in a 3 p.m. contest on Saturday, Feb. 7 at home against Santa Clara in what will be the team’s “white out” game.
