The Pac-12 on Wednesday announced the kickoff times and broadcasts for 11 of the 12 games on the WSU Cougars’ football schedule this fall.

UW announces kickoff times for 3 games, including new day for Apple Cup

Yes, you read that correctly. All but one of WSU’s games this fall already have a definitive kickoff time.

That’s a sharp contrast from the flexible scheduling practices of other conferences, who typically don’t announce kickoff times for conference games until 6 or 12 days in advance.

This fall will be the first season of the revamped Pac-12, which includes eight members for football – WSU, Oregon State, Boise State, Utah State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State and Texas State.

WSU will open the season on the road against the archrival UW Huskies in the Apple Cup, which has been moved to 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6. The Cougars then travel to face Kansas State on Sept. 12 before closing out their non-conference slate at home against FCS-level Duquesne on Sept. 19 and former Pac-12 foe Arizona on Sept. 26. WSU opens Pac-12 play on Oct. 3 with a home game against Fresno State.

Each Pac-12 team will play an eight-game conference slate. The first seven games are scheduled matchups, while the final game on Nov. 28 will feature a unique flex scheduling model.

For that final “flex week,” each team is tentatively matched with an opponent, but the Pac-12 “retains the right to adjust matchups based on the best interests of the conference, including College Football Playoff considerations at that time,” according to the league website.

WSU’s tentative “flex week” opponent is Oregon State. Regardless of who the Cougars are pitted against that week, the matchup will take place at home. The kickoff time and TV broadcast are to be determined.

The top two teams in the conference standings will meet in the Pac-12 championship game on Friday, Dec. 4, at 5 p.m.
