Top returning UW Huskies RB unlikely to play in 2026, per report

It appears unlikely the UW Huskies will have Jordan Washington, their top returning running back, this season.

Christian Caple of On Montlake reported Thursday that Fisch said it would be “a reach” for Washington to play in 2026, though Washington is hopeful to play football again. Later Thursday, Andy Yamashita of The Seattle Times reported that Fisch said Washington will not be available when fall camp starts.

Washington was taken off the field in an ambulance on April 4 and missed the remainder of spring practices.

The 5-foot-10, 181-pound Washington ran for 233 yards as a redshirt freshman in 2025, the most among UW’s returning running backs. Washington was third among the RBs last season behind Jonah Coleman, who is off to the NFL as a fourth-round draft pick by the Denver Broncos, and Adam Mohammed, who transferred to Cal.

The Huskies have redshirt freshman Quaid Carr and senior transfers Trey Cooley (Troy) and Jayden Limar (Oregon).

UW Huskies announce their new football play-by-play voice

Per Yamashita, both Limar (ankle) and Cooley (knee) are healthy enough to participate in fall camp after missing the spring practice period due to injury.

Limar, who is a local product from Lake Stevens High School, ran for 262 yards for Oregon last year.

The Huskies will open the season on Sunday, Sept. 6 when they host the rival WSU Cougars in the annual Apple Cup.
