Washington is one of eight Big Ten teams in the poll. The others are No. 1 Ohio State, No. 2 Oregon, No. 6 Indiana, No. 14 USC, No. 16 Michigan, No. 18 Penn State and No. 22 Iowa.
Coming off a 9-4 campaign in 2025, the Huskies are looking to take another step forward in head coach Jedd Fisch’s third season at the helm.
UW returns a good crop of talent on both sides of the ball, highlighted by dual-threat junior quarterback Demond Williams Jr. The Huskies also added potential impact players through both the transfer portal and the high school recruiting ranks, including five-star freshman offensive tackle Kodi Greene.
Washington faces five of the Big Ten’s ranked teams. The Huskies travel to face USC on Oct. 3 and then return home to face Iowa on Oct. 9. They host Penn State on Nov. 7 and defending national champion Indiana on Nov. 21 before closing the regular season at archrival Oregon on Nov. 28.
UW kicks off the season against the cross-state rival WSU Cougars in the 118th Apple Cup on Sunday, Sept. 6, at Husky Stadium.
