UW Huskies land two new recruits for 2026 class

Jedd Fisch gave the signal. Soon after, the UW Huskies picked up two more commitments for their 2026 recruiting class.

Fisch on Sunday morning posted four purple umbrella emojis on social media, signaling the Huskies were about to land future pieces. Later in the day, four-star safety Gavin Day and three-star offensive tackle Dominic Harris (both Las Vegas products) announced their pledges to UW.

Day, rated as the No. 2 recruit in Nevada and 19th at his position nationally by 247sports.com, is UW’s first safety commit for the 2026 class and its third-highest rated player.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound defensive back racked up 110 tackles, 17 tackles for loss and two interceptions for Faith Lutheran High School in 2024. He also held offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Iowa, Oregon State, Texas A&M, USC and others.

Here’s what recruiting analyst Brandon Huffman said about Day in his 247sports recruiting profile:

Day is one of the top safeties out West with some nice positional versatility to him. He has an athletic 6-3, 190 pound frame and looks like he could grow in to more of a hybrid safety/linebacker down the road. He’s rangy, covers a lot of ground and can really fly to the football. He’s a big hitter who gets downhill in a hurry and plays with the kind of enforcer mentality you love to have in your secondary.

He’s quick to read and react, plays with high level awareness and shows a really nice burst when he triggers. He’s a tough kid, a throwback type defender who’s always looking for that knockout shot on a crossing receiver. When you look at his frame, physicality and athleticism, Day projects as a high Power 4 prospect, talented enough to play for any program out West.

Harris, a product of Ed W. Clark High School, is the fourth-ranked recruit out of Nevada and rated No. 26 nationally at his position. At 6 foot 7 and 335 pounds, he adds another big body to a UW class that’s headlined by four-star offensive tackle Kodi Greene and four-star edge rusher Derek Colman-Brusa.

Harris’ offers include Auburn, BYU, Florida State, Maryland, Michigan State, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas Tech and UCLA.

Both Day and Harris took official visits to UW over the weekend and have more on their schedules, per 247sports.

The new pledges bring UW’s 2026 recruiting class to 11 players. The class is ranked No. 20 in the country by 247sports.
