Former UW Huskies star running back Myles Gaskin, the school’s all-time career rushing leader, announced his retirement from the NFL in a social media post on Wednesday.
Gaskin, a Lynnwood native who attended O’Dea High School, spent seven seasons in the NFL – including a stint with the Seattle Seahawks last fall.
Gaskin, 29, tallied 1,360 rushing yards, 712 receiving yards and 13 total touchdowns in 47 career games. He played 38 games with the Miami Dolphins (2019-22), one game with the Los Angeles Rams (2023), seven games with the Minnesota Vikings (2023-24) and one game with the Seahawks (2025).
Gaskin’s best seasons came with the Dolphins, who drafted him with a seventh-round pick in 2019. He had 584 rushing yards, 388 receiving yards and five total TDs in 2020, followed by 612 rushing yards, 234 receiving yards and seven total TDs in 2021.
Gaskin was on and off Seattle’s practice squad last season from Oct. 1 to Dec. 13. In his lone game with the Seahawks, he rushed for 6 yards on three carries in Seattle’s Week 13 rout of the Vikings.
On Montlake, Gaskin piled up 5,323 rushing yards and 57 rushing TDs over a decorated four-year career with the Huskies from 2015-18. Both marks remain No. 1 in program history.
Gaskin rushed for more than 1,200 yards and 10-plus TDs in all four seasons at Washington – including a career-high 1,380 yards and a Pac-12-leading 21 TDs in 2017. He’s just the second player in FBS history to reach the 1,200-yard rushing mark in four consecutive seasons.
Gaskin helped lead the Huskies to two Pac-12 titles and three New Year’s Six bowl appearances, including their first-ever College Football Playoff berth in 2016.
