A new men’s college basketball showcase at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena will feature three Division-I teams from the state all participating in a doubleheader this December.

The Seattle Holiday Classic will see the WSU Cougars and Seattle U Redhawks play, followed by the UW Huskies against the Baylor Bears on Saturday, Dec. 19.

Tickets will go on sale this Wednesday, Aug. 19 through Ticketmaster and the Climate Pledge Arena box office. A single ticket will grant admission to both contests.

While the Cougars and Huskies have suspended their Apple Cup rivalry in men’s hoops for the time being, they’ll at least be in action at the same place on the same day.

“We’re looking forward to getting back to Seattle and bringing Cougar basketball to the thousands of WSU alumni in western Washington,” WSU head coach David Riley said in a press release. “I believe playing the other Division-I teams in the state is an important part of developing the game and honoring its history in the Pacific Northwest.”

While WSU and Seattle U were conference opponents in the WCC last season, this will be a non-conference game as the Cougars have returned to the reformed Pac-12.

“We’re excited to be part of the inaugural Seattle Holiday Classic and to compete in an event that showcases great college basketball in the Pacific Northwest,” Seattle U head coach Chris Victor said in a press release. “Washington State is a great regional matchup and playing at Climate Pledge Arena is always a terrific opportunity for our program and our fans.”

The Huskies will get a tough test against a Baylor squad out of the Big 12.

“We’re excited to be a part of the inaugural Seattle Holiday Classic,” UW head coach Danny Sprinkle said in a press release. “It’s a great opportunity for our program to play a high-level, resume-building non-conference game against an elite opponent in Baylor, and to do it in a world-class venue like Climate Pledge Arena right here in our own backyard.”
