“The Hot Stove” podcast and recap

Another edition of “The Hot Stove” is in the books and if you missed it, never fear, we have a podcast.

Aaron Goldsmith and Bill Krueger from ROOT Sports joined me in studio for two hours of baseball talk. We had a great conversation with Mariners hitting coach Howard Johnson, who had some pretty strong comments about Dustin Ackley and pointed to Logan Morrison as a success story of sorts. He also looked back at the 1986 World Series and shared his memories of being on deck when the ball went through Bill Buckner’s legs in Game 6.

DJ Peterson was our second guest and it is clear he is excited to get to his first big-league spring training. He talked about what he learned in his first full professional season, how Kyle Seager has influenced him in his short time in the organization and also shared a nice story about words of advice he received from a Hall of Famer while he was in college.

Chris Calcaterra from the Peoria Sports Complex kicked off the second hour of the show with updates on the renovations at the spring training stadium. We learned that even bigger changes are in store for next year.

Rangers Hall of Fame broadcaster Eric Nadel was next and he gave us his thoughts on the 2015 Rangers, which he believes needs to step up, and what to expect from new manager Jeff Banister. Bob Dutton of The News Tribune was our last guest and he broke down some of the battles we can expect to see in spring training and what he believes it will take to win those battles.

The next edition of “The Hot Stove” will be next Tuesday from 7-9 p.m.
