The Seattle Mariners reinstated high-leverage reliever Matt Brash from the 15-day injured list ahead of Wednesday afternoon’s series finale against the Chicago White Sox.

In a corresponding move, Seattle optioned left-handed reliever Robinson Ortiz back to Triple-A Tacoma.

How Colt Emerson is showing he’s ‘really special’ already

Brash had been on the IL since May 1 with right lat inflammation. The 28-year-old right-hander made two rehab appearances with Tacoma. Last Thursday night, he struck out all three batters he faced in a perfect 15-pitch inning. And on Sunday, he pitched two-thirds of an inning with a strikeout and two walks.

Prior to landing on the IL, Brash didn’t allow an earned run over 11 1/3 innings and 14 appearances this season. He yielded one unearned run and just three hits, while totaling eight strikeouts and two walks.

Ortiz, 26, was called up on Monday, but didn’t appear in a game and has yet to make his MLB debut. Ranked by MLB Pipeline as the Mariners’ No. 26 prospect, he has a 1.69 ERA with 18 strikeouts and 12 walks in 16 innings with Tacoma this season.

game last night was a complete and total travesty..what a joke..Liteally everyone is pissed..That piggyback nonsense is a disaster. Castillo is obviously the worst starter...either move him to long relief or trade him..His feelings are irrelevant.
