Mariners MLB Draft Primer: Where they’re picking and how to watch

The 2026 MLB Draft will be quite a bit different than it was a year ago for the Seattle Mariners.

Another prospect who could help the Mariners this season

In 2025, there was plenty of buzz surrounding the Mariners as the draft approached. After all, the team had lucked out in the draft lottery, climbing up 12 spots to land the No. 3 overall pick.

It resulted in the M’s taking LSU’s Kade Anderson, a pick that has continued to look better with each start made by the left-hander during a dominant first pro season in Double-A.

And in addition to having the third pick, Seattle had a Competitive Balance Round A pick, giving the franchise a second first-rounder.

But after their run to the American League West title and the AL Championship Series last year, the Mariners won’t be on the clock until the 24th pick of this year’s draft.

Here’s what to know about the 2026 draft.

When and where to watch

The draft begins with the first four rounds on Saturday at 10 a.m. The event will air live on NBC and Peacock from 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. before moving to MLB Network, MLB.com, MLB TV and MLB+ from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. MLB.com, MLB TV and MLB+ will air the remainder of Day 1 coverage from 1:30 p.m.-4:45 p.m.

Coverage of Day 2, which will feature rounds 5-20, will air on MLB.com, MLB TV and MLB+ from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

This year’s draft is taking place in Philadelphia, the home of the 2026 All-Star Game.

Keep an eye on college arms

The Mariners have built a reputation as one of the league’s premier organizations at developing pitching, and many draft experts are tabbing Seattle to go with a college hurler when they’re on the clock in the first round.

Among the names to watch for the M’s include Tennessee’s Tegan Kuhns, Mississippi’s Taylor Rabe and Cade Townsend, Coastal Carolina’s Cameron Flukey, Arkansas’ Hunter Dietz and Florida’s Liam Peterson.
