Mariners lose RHP Logan Evans to UCL surgery

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Evans will be out of action until at least 2027.

The Mariners announced Friday that the 24-year-old right-hander underwent surgery on Jan. 23 to reconstruct a torn UCL in his right arm. The surgery by Dr. Keith Meister in Texas also included an internal brace procedure.

In a press release by the Mariners, Evans’ recovery time is estimated to be 12 months.

Evans made his MLB debut with Seattle in 2025, starting 15 games and appearing in 16 total. He proved to be a valuable member of the roster as the Mariners endured injuries during the season to starting pitchers George Kirby, Logan Gilbert and Bryce Miller.

Evans went 6-5 with a 4.32 ERA and 1.389 WHIP over 81 1/3 innings last year, with 59 strikeouts to 31 walks.

Evans spent time on the injured list last September with right elbow inflammation.

The Mariners picked Evans in the 12th round of the MLB Draft in 2023. He played in college at both Pittsburgh and Penn State.

Seattle has added some organizational depth beyond the initial five pitchers in the starting rotation this offseason, including Cooper Criswell and former Texas Rangers starter Dane Dunning. The Mariners also have former first-round pick Emerson Hancock, who started 16 games for them last year.
