Mariners’ Little League Classic game delayed by rain

UPDATE: First pitch was at 4:46 p.m., capping a 36-minute delay.
The start of the Little League Classic between the Seattle Mariners and the New York Mets on Sunday night in Williamsport, Pa., will be delayed due to rain.
First pitch is now scheduled for 4:45 p.m. Pacific time. It was originally slated for 4:10 p.m.

It marks the third time in five days the Mariners have dealt with a weather delay on their East Coast road trip. The two previous delays came on Wednesday and Thursday at the Baltimore Orioles’ Camden Yards. The start of Wednesday’s game was delayed 1 hour, 40 minutes, while Thursday’s game was halted in the sixth inning for 2 hours, 18 minutes. The Mariners lost both games.
Sunday night’s game against the Mets is the the eighth annual edition of the Little League Classic, which takes place in conjunction with the Little League World Series in Williamsport. The game is slated to be played at Historic Bowman Field in front of an intimate crowd comprised mostly of Little Leaguers and their families.
