The Seattle Mariners rookie showed off the prodigious power tool he was known for coming in the minor leagues in a major way on Tuesday night, slugging a 474-foot home run into an uncharted area of T-Mobile Park for the longest home run at the ballpark in the Statcast era.

The rookie outfielder connected on a fastball from Rangers starter Cal Quantrill and sent a 116.1-mph missile over the “J-Rod Squad” and onto the concourse in center field for a three-run homer during the fourth inning of the Mariners’ 10-5 loss to the Rangers.

The 474-foot blast is tied for the longest hit ball in MLB this season. It bested Mike Zunino’s 470-foot homer in 2017 as the longest homer at T-Mobile Park. It’s also the second-longest by a Mariner during the Statcast era, trailing Jarred Kelenic’s 482-foot homer at Wrigley Field in 2023.

The home run was Montes’ second in six games since being promoted to the major leagues on Sept. 1. He slugged 38 in 123 minor leagues prior to his promotion.

Montes is the Mariners’ fifth-ranked prospect and No. 56 in baseball, per MLB Pipeline.
