González, a 25-year-old right-hander, is set to report to Triple-A Tacoma. He fills the final open spot on Seattle’s 40-man roster.

In 35 appearances with the Triple-A Gwinnett Stripers this season, González is 2-1 with a 4.29 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, 39 strikeouts and 21 walks over 42 innings. He carries a 21.4% strikeout rate, 11.5% walk rate and 44.1% groundball rate.

González features a three-pitch mix with a four-seam fastball in the mid-90s, a hard slider and splitter.

Despite being designated for assignment by Atlanta on Sunday, González has not allowed an earned run in nine outings since the start of July. The San Francisco de Macoris, Dominican Republic, native has surrendered just seven hits and walked six while striking out nine over 9 2/3 innings during the stretch.

González has pitched in seven minor league seasons in the Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates organizations. He has a career 32-23 record with a 4.13 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 507 strikeouts over 434 minor league innings.

The Mariners begin a three-game series at the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday at 3:35 p.m. Radio coverage begins at 2:30 p.m. with the pregame on Seattle Sports 710 AM and the Seattle Sports app.
