Royals acquire RHP Randy Dobnak from Mariners

The Kansas City Royals acquired right-handed starting pitcher Randy Dobnak from the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations.

Dobnak, 31, signed a minor league contract with the Mariners last November and made 13 starts for Triple-A Tacoma this season. He recently exercised an upward mobility clause in his contract, which meant the Mariners either had to add him to their 40-man roster or offer him to another team.

The Royals selected Dobnak to their 40-man roster and optioned him to Triple-A Omaha.

Dobnak posted a 4.86 ERA over 21 starts and 39 total MLB appearances with the Minnesota Twins from 2019-25.

At Tacoma this season, he logged a 4.24 ERA with 39 strikeouts and 24 walks in 70 innings.
