Robinson Cano out 3-4 weeks, rest of Japan Series with broken toe

Robinson Cano will be a spectator for the remainder of the Japan Series.

The Mariners second baseman suffered a non-displaced fracture of his right pinky toe when he was hit by a pitch in Game 3 of the series Saturday. He was immediately removed from the game and X-rays revealed the injury. He is expected to miss three to four weeks, which would allow him to resume baseball activities in mid-December, according to a press release from the Mariners.

Before leaving the Tokyo Dome, Cano told a reporter from MLB.com that he was not terribly worried about the toe.

Cano’s toe was the only thing close to a hit the MLB team got that night. The squad was no-hit by Team Japan, led by starter Takahiro Norimoto of the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles, who threw five perfect innings before handing over the game to the bullpen. The MLB All-Stars are 0-3 in the five-game series and have been outscored 21-12.
