Report: Mariners promote Felnin Celesten to Double-A

The Seattle Mariners are promoting highly touted shortstop prospect Felnin Celesten from High-A Everett to Double-A Arkansas, according to a report from Milb Central that Celesten shared on his Instagram account.

Celesten, a 20-year-old switch-hitter from the Dominican Republic, is ranked as MLB Pipeline’s No. 70 overall prospect and Baseball America’s No. 94 overall prospect.

Celesten slashed .314/.409/.534 with 13 home runs, four triples, 21 doubles, 18 stolen bases and a .943 OPS in 80 games with Everett this season. He had a 25-game hitting streak earlier in the year and has shown a recent uptick in power, blasting eight homers in his past 26 games.

Celesten has long been touted for his tantalizing five-tool potential. He signed with the Mariners for $4.7 million out of the Dominican Republic in 2023, which was the largest international bonus signing Seattle has ever made, according to Baseball America.

Celesten’s first two pro seasons were marred by injuries. He missed the entire 2023 season with a hamstring strain and then had his 2024 campaign cut short with a wrist injury that required surgery.

During his first full pro season in 2025, Celesten slashed .273/.345/.375 with six homers, three triples, 19 doubles, 21 steals and a .721 OPS across 104 games with Low-A Modesto and Everett.

Celesten has built on that with an impressive 2026 campaign, which now has him one step closer to the big leagues.
