Graduation day for prospects on opening day rosters came Sunday, which led to a new member of the Seattle Mariners’ farm system landing on MLB Pipeline’s top 100 prospects. The M’s also had one of the league’s biggest fallers in MLB’s updated list.

Right-hander Rylan Sloan, a second-round pick by the M’s in 2024, made his debut on the list at No. 96. Sloan’s addition gives the team an MLB-high nine players in Pipeline’s top 100.

In five starts with Single-A Modesto, the 6-foot-5 Sloan has a 3.31 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 19 strikeouts over 16 1/3 innings. The 19 year old features a fastball that touches 99 mph with a plus changeup in the mid-80s and above average slider in the low-80s, per Pipeline.

Catcher Harry Ford, a first-round pick in 2021, had the 10th-biggest fall among prospects, dropping 11 spots from No. 56 to 67.

Ford, 22, has continued to be an on-base machine in his first season in Triple-A with .415 on-base percentage in 26 games. However, he’s yet to tap into the power he showed in his early minor league seasons with only one home run and five extra-base hits.

The M’s group in the top 100 includes seven position players and two pitchers. Two of those position players – second baseman Cole Young and outfielder Jonny Farmelo – have been on a tear of late.

Farmelo, a first-rounder in 2023, on Sunday slugged his fifth home run in eight games with High-A Everett since returning from a torn ACL. He also had a two-homer game Saturday.
