Lineups: Dan Vogelbach starting at 1B; Kyle Seager a late scratch

After a being recalled to the big leagues as part of a series of moves Sunday, Dan Vogelbach will start at first base for Game 4 of the Mariners’ 1:05 p.m. matchup with the A’s on 710 ESPN Seattle. Oakland is looking for a sweep.

Vogelbach replaces veteran Dany Valencia, who has struggled thus far in his first season with the Mariners. Vogelbach and Valencia were expected to start the season as a platoon at the position, but Vogelbach struggled in spring training and is a work in progress on defense.

As part of Sunday’s moves, opening day starting center fielder Leonys Martin was designated for assignment. That means veteran Jarrod Dyson will continue in center, where he’s started the past two games.

710 ESPN Seattle’s Shannon Drayer reported that Kyle Seager was a late scratch from the lineup becuase of a hip issue. He’s being replaced by lefty Mike Freeman.
