Lineups: Ben Gamel leading off, Tyler Smith at SS for Mariners vs Twins

Ben Gamel is leading off and playing left field while Tyler Smith is at shortstop and hitting ninth for the Mariners in the opener of their four-game series with the Twins in Minneapolis.

Nelson Cruz is surely hoping weather will permit considering how well he’s hit at Target Field. He’s homered seven times in his last six games there dating back to July 31, 2015. Cruz went 3 for 11 with a double over his last three games after missing two because of his sore calf.

He enters Monday leading the Mariners in batting average (.298), home runs (14), RBIs (46), on-base percentage (.380) and hits (62).
