How Mariners’ top pitching prospects fared in All-Star Futures Game

Highly touted Seattle Mariners pitching prospects Kade Anderson and Ryan Sloan each tossed a scoreless inning during the American League’s 6-1 win over the National League in the 2026 All-Star Futures Game on Sunday at Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park.

Anderson and Sloan were the Mariners’ two representatives in the annual game, which showcases baseball’s top prospects as part of MLB’s All-Star Week festivities.

Anderson, MLB Pipeline’s No. 5 overall prospect, retired three of the four batters he faced during a 10-pitch first inning.

Anderson induced a popout from Washington Nationals top prospect Eli Willits (Pipeline No. 3) and a groundout from Colorado Rockies prospect Roldy Brito (Pipeline No. 69). Then after Milwaukee Brewers top prospect Jesús Made (Pipeline No. 1) blooped a single into shallow right field, Anderson got Rockies prospect Charlie Condon (Pipeline No. 62) to fly out.

Sloan, MLB Pipeline’s No. 8 overall prospect, also retired three of the four batters he faced during a 17-pitch fifth. Along the way, he reached triple digits with a 100 mph fastball.

Sloan induced a pair of groundouts from Chicago Cubs prospect Josiah Hartshorn (Pipeline No. 75) and San Francisco Giants prospect Gavin Kilen. Then after Giants prospect Dakota Jordan ripped a double down the left-field line, Sloan retired Made for an inning-ending flyout.

Anderson, the No. 3 overall pick in last year’s MLB Draft, is having a sensational pro debut at Double-A Arkansas this season. The 22-year-old left-hander has a 1.36 ERA in 14 starts, highlighted by a streak of 27 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings from May 22 through June 19.

Anderson has piled up a whopping 108 strikeouts and just 10 walks over 72 2/3 innings. He leads the Texas League in virtually every major pitching category, including ERA, strikeouts, WHIP (0.69), opponents’ batting average (.160), strikeout rate (41.4%) and walk rate (3.8%).

Sloan, a 2024 second-round pick out of high school, has 4.04 ERA in 14 starts with Arkansas this season, including a 2.07 ERA over his past four outings. The 20-year-old right-hander has 77 strikeouts and 12 walks in 62 1/3 innings – highlighted by a perfect six-inning, 11-strikeout outing on May 30.
