As 2025 draws to a close, LeMay – America’s Car Museum (ACM) in Tacoma, WA is setting the stage for an unforgettable year ahead, blending America’s love for speed, innovation, and the open road through two landmark exhibitions and a cross-country adventure.
The Birth of the American Supercar – Now Open
ACM recently unveiled its groundbreaking exhibition, The Birth of the American Supercar, which opened on October 25, 2025 and will run for a full year. Curated by legendary automotive innovator Steve Saleen, this immersive showcase explores the evolution of America’s high-performance machines—from the thunderous V8 pioneers of the past to today’s carbon-fiber marvels competing on the global stage.
Guests can experience some of the most iconic and historically significant vehicles ever built, including models from Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Saleen, Vector, Cunningham, and Hennessey. Beyond the horsepower, the exhibition features interactive storytelling, educational programming, and four scheduled refreshes throughout the year, ensuring new perspectives and vehicles with each visit.
“This exhibition isn’t just about cars—it’s about America’s spirit of innovation and competition,” said David Madeira, CEO of America’s Car Museum. “We’re honored to have Steve’s expertise as we create one of our most immersive exhibitions to date.”
Route 66 Centennial Celebration – Coming January 2026
In anticipation of the 100th anniversary of Route 66, ACM has refreshed its beloved Route 66 exhibition with centennial-themed design elements, new vehicles, and artifacts that pay tribute to the Mother Road’s enduring legacy. Throughout 2026, visitors will enjoy films and memorabilia from the upcoming Route 66 Drive Home, making this exhibit a must-see for anyone inspired by America’s open-road heritage.
The Drive Home VII: Route 66 – A Century of Adventure
The celebration shifts into high gear on January 3, 2026, when America’s Automotive Trust (AAT) kicks off The Drive Home VII, an epic cross-country journey honoring Route 66’s centennial. Created in partnership with the Detroit Auto Show and the Route 66 Road Ahead Partnership, this annual winter drive will travel the entire length of Route 66—from Santa Monica to Chicago, before continuing on to Detroit, arriving January 14.
The convoy will feature nine classic and modern vehicles, accompanied by nearly two dozen “privateers” driving their own cars, making this a true celebration of community and car culture.
