There was a different feeling among the Seahawks’ offensive linemen last Sunday compared to Seattle’s first two games of the season.

Forget Rosen — Hawks’ offense vs Cards’ D is what to watch

“This past game, we just had fun,” Pro Bowl left tackler Duane Brown said Thursday on 710 ESPN Seattle’s The Huddle. “I think the first couple of games there was just so much going on and guys were kinda on-edge. This game it was a lot of laughing on the sidelines.”

A lot of laughing and a lot of running.

The Seahawks beat the Cowboys 24-13 behind a big performance from second-year running back Chris Carson, whose career-high 102 rushing yards came on 32 carries, the most by a Seattle player since 2011. The Seahawks hope to continue making progress in the run game this week in Arizona, something Brown said the team is equipped to do.

“(Last week against Dallas) you knew, alright, we’re finally arriving. The chemistry’s there, guys are playing with confidence,” Brown said. “We’re built to run the ball and I think that will help us just be more successful as an offense. Just gotta stick to it and be consistent.”

Brown added that the Seahawks have the personnel together to make their emphasis on re-establishing the run this season a reality, highlighting a few players in particular.

On right guard D.J. Fluker, who returned from injury for the Dallas game: “I don’t know what he’s tipping the scales at. … He’s massive, man.”

Then J.R. Sweezy, who stepped in at left guard for an injured Ethan Pocic last week: “(He) just plays with a different level of aggression.”

And finally, Carson: “He’s a workhorse, so feed him the ball 25, 30 times a game.”

The Seahawks will go up against a talented Cardinals defense in Sunday’s 1:05 p.m. game on 710 ESPN Seattle and KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, however, and Brown isn’t discounting a front that includes two-time Pro Bowl and one-time first-team All-Pro Chandler Jones on his side at defensive end.

“They’re a solid group,” Brown said. “… They’ve got a pretty good group. They’re someone to be respected for sure.”

You can hear the full interview with Brown as well as another segment with Seahawks wide receiver Jaron Brown in this podcast from Thursday’s edition of The Huddle.
