Bobby Wagner joins Doug Baldwin, K.J. Wright as Seahawks out vs Bears

A Seahawks defense that lost multiple leaders with Pro Bowl selections to their credit after last season will be without two more on Monday in Chicago.

Seahawks, Bears meet for MNF: 3 players to watch

All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner (groin) has been ruled out for the game against the Bears, joining fellow linebacker K.J. Wright (knee) on the sideline nursing an injury. As expected, wide receiver Doug Baldwin (knee) was also ruled out on Saturday’s final injury report before the Bears game.

With Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor, Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett all departing over the offseason while Earl Thomas held out, Wagner and Wright assumed leadership of the defense in training camp and the preseason. Now Thomas, who ended his prior to the season opener, will be the lone player playing Monday on that side of the ball with experience going back to Seattle’s heyday of defensive dominance earlier in the decade.

With Wagner and Wright both out, the likelihood of recently-signed linebacker Mychal Kendricks playing Monday becomes a near-certainty.

Listed as doubtful on Seattle’s injury report are guard D.J. Fluker, cornerback Tre Flowers and safety Delano Hill, all with hamstring issues. Cornerback Shaquill Griffin (thight) is questionable.

With Hill doubtful, the Seahawks added some depth at safety, promoting former WSU Cougars star Shalom Luani from the practice squad. To make room for Luani on the active roster, they released defensive tackle Tom Johnson, an offseason free-agent signing who started in Week 1 and played 53 percent of the snaps for Seattle.
