RENTON – Coach Pete Carroll had no news on strong safety Kam Chancellor Thursday, which is certainly not good news after Chancellor suffered a neurological injury during last week’s game in Arizona.

“He’s still getting some work done, tests done,” Carroll said. “Don’t have anything updated yet.”

Moore: Seahawks’ weakness could play into Falcons’ strength

Chancellor suffered a stinger against the Cardinals last week, Carroll said after the game. There has been no update on the potential severity of the injury. Carroll was asked if he knows when Chancellor might be able to play again.

“Don’t know that yet,” Carroll said. “I’ve only communicated with him. I’ll see him later. I don’t know anything yet.”

If Chancellor is not available to play, Bradley McDougald will take his place at strong safety. McDougald started in place of Earl Thomas the past two games when Thomas was out with a strained hamstring. Thomas is expected to be available for the Monday night game against Atlanta.

“We’re very fortunate to have Bradley,” Carroll said. “He has played great. The whole time he has been trained is trained at both spots. It’s no big deal for him to play strong safety versus free safety. He’ll jump right in there.”

Running through the update on other Seahawks’ injuries:

LT Duane Brown is not ready to begin practicing yet after suffering an ankle injury in the first half of the game in Arizona.“We’re going to find out later in the week,” Carroll said. “We won’t know right now. He’s still got an ankle that he’s dealing with of course, but we’ll take it all the way up to game time.”

DT Jarran Reed is hoping to be able to come back and play this week after suffering a hamstring injury.“He’s trying to do some stuff,” Carroll said. “He’s trying to work his way back. It will be one day at a time here. I don’t know how it’s going to turn out, but he’s got a chance. He thinks he can do it so we’ll have to wait and see. Again, it will take us all the way to game time.”

RB Eddie Lacy missed last week’s game with a strained groin, but is expected to be back on the field.“Eddie is ready to practice today,” Carroll said. “He’s ready to get back in action.”
