Russell Wilson pitched a complete game.

I know, I know, that’s the wrong sport, and even when Wilson played baseball, he was a middle infielder and not working from the mound.

But after two weeks in which Wilson was markedly better in the second half compared to the first, it’s worth noting that Seattle’s quarterback had a more well-rounded effort in Sunday night’s win over Indianapolis.

Carroll updates injuries to Carson, Avril and Odhiambo

“I thought from start to finish he was much more connected than he was in the last couple weeks,” coach Pete Carroll said. “In two of the last three weeks, his starts weren’t quite as efficient. I thought he was much better in this one. Even though we didn’t show for it, I liked the way he was playing.”

Tough to argue with the stats. Wilson completed 21 of the 26 passes he threw in the game for 295 yards. He threw for two touchdowns and also scored on a 23-yard touchdown run in the second half.

The only flaw you couldn’t point to were the pair of passes the Colts intercepted, and one of those bounced off the hands of tight end Jimmy Graham.

Wilson showed some emotion, too, finishing the Seahawks’ touchdown drive to begin the second half by diving into the end zone and stretching the ball across the line just before his leg touched the ground.

“He’s a tough competitor,” Carroll said. “He likes to be able to show that. He doesn’t get many chances to do that. He’s always running out of bounds and taking care of himself. That one he went for it, at the right time, and he did it beautifully.”

The officials initially ruled Wilson down at the Indianapolis 1, prompting Carroll to challenge the play with an overhand throw of the challenge flag that traveled more than 20 yards.
