Instant Reaction from 710 ESPN Seattle voices after Seahawks’ 37-18 win over 49ers

Sep 25, 2016, 4:38 PM

We’ve polled the voices of 710 ESPN Seattle to weigh in on the Seahawks’ 37-18 victory over the 49ers on Sunday. Here’s what they have to say:

Jim Moore of “Danny, Dave and Moore”

As positive and convincing as the win was, Russell Wilson’s status will be a concern for another week. I’ve never seen Wilson stay on the turf for as long as he did after he was horse-collared by Eli Harold in the third quarter, so you know it was higher on the pain scale than the sprained ankle in the Miami game. Might be smart long-term to rest Wilson next week against the Jets regardless of what the X-rays and MRIs show. A bye week follows, which would give Wilson two weeks to rest and recuperate and be ready for the Falcons on Oct. 16.

Very encouraging to see what we saw in the preseason from Trevone Boykin. He might be an undrafted free agent but he looked great in his first regular season game, throwing his first touchdown pass to Doug Baldwin.

Aside from San Francisco’s garbage-time touchdowns, the Seahawks’ defense was stifling again. The best part was seeing Kam Chancellor resuming his enforcer role with several intimidating hits and pass-breakups. Through three games., the Seahawks’ defense is allowing just a little more than 10 points a game.

Even when Thomas Rawls returns, Christine Michael should be the starting running back until Rawls can show he’s as physically punishing as he was last year. With a shiftier, faster style, Michael might be better suited to run behind this developing offensive line.

Dave “The Groz” Grosby of “Bob, Groz and Tom”

The question is no longer should the Seahawks got a veteran QB the question is who. The defense is too good this year to let your hopes ride on an undrafted rookie. Is it as simple as calling Tavaris Jackson? Probably.

Bob Stelton of “Bob, Groz and Tom”

That was by far the most complete effort we’ve seen from the Seahawks. Explosive offense, smothering defense and a great return for Lockett on special teams. The concerns: obviously the injury to Wilson’s left knee, a very poor interception by Boykin and the defense losing focus in the fourth quarter.
