This time, it’s all Seahawks, and it’s all one position group: the wide receivers.
• 58 – Jaxon Smith-Njigba is leading this team with 58 receptions. He has the most receiving yards in the league. I would not change anything about this. Last year, he accounted for 36% of Sam Darnold’s targets. They still won a Super Bowl. But I am wondering who behind JSN is going to step into that wide receiver No. 2 role?
• 19 – This is the number of receptions for Cooper Kupp. That’s the team’s next-closest receiver to JSN. That’s a massive gap. There’s always going to be a gap like that when you have a standout guy like JSN leading the league, but you’d like to see a complementary piece emerge. Maybe it ends up being AJ Barner or one of your running backs in the pass game.
• 15 – I’d love for that complementary piece to be a young player like Tory Horton (who wears No. 15). The Seahawks need to get someone else involved, especially with Rashid Shaheed ruled out for Monday night with a knee injury.
