The Seattle Seahawks activated running back Zach Charbonnet off the physically unable to perform list on Thursday, but they reportedly have lost tight end Elijah Arroyo for the season.

Arroyo is undergoing shoulder surgery on Thursday and will miss the rest of the season, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter. He suffered the injury in last week’s loss to the Denver Broncos. Seattle placed Arroyo on injured reserve to make room for Charbonnet on its 53-man roster.

Charbonnet’s 21-day practice window ended Thursday, which meant the Seahawks either had to place him on their 53-man roster or keep him on the PUP list for the rest of the season.

Charbonnet, who is working back from February ACL surgery, progressed to full participation on Wednesday’s practice report. It was his first time being listed as a full participant since returning to practice on Oct. 1.

On Monday, head coach Mike Macdonald said there’s a “possibility” Charbonnet could play “in some capacity” in Sunday night’s showdown against the unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs.

Charbonnet rushed for 730 yards, 4.0 yards per carry and a team-high 12 touchdowns last season while splitting carries with eventual Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III, who departed in free agency for Kansas City. Charbonnet got injured during Seattle’s divisional round playoff rout of the San Francisco 49ers on Jan. 17.

Arroyo, a 2025 second-round draft pick, had only one catch for 17 yards in six games this season. Last year, he had 15 receptions for 179 yards and a TD.
