For the second time over the past three weeks, the Seattle Seahawks turned in a sloppy performance on offense that proved to difference maker in a narrow loss.

Turnovers cost Seahawks | Box Score

Seattle turned the ball over four times, three of which led to touchdowns, in a 32-29 defeat to the division rival San Francisco 49ers at Lumen Field.

With the loss, the Seahawks fell to 3-2. The 49ers improved to 5-0 and maintained their hold on first place in the NFC West.

Here’s the instant reaction to the game from the voices of Seattle Sports.

The fact that this game was even close is a minor miracle! The offense’s first three turnovers of the game had the 49ers starting inside the red zone and scoring a TD.

Despite the 32 points the 49ers scored, the Seahawks’ defense is really the biggest reason this game was close. On an incredibly frustrating day, the defense was put in many horrible positions and asked to almost work miracles with what they were handed. The one area that stuck out was the Mike Evans-Josh Jobe matchup. If that were a boxing match, it would have been an Evans TKO win in the first round. His size was a problem that San Francisco exploited all day long, with the Hawks unable to adjust.

The offense has some serious questions that need to be answered. Their lack of ball security is extremely concerning and their inability to get any kind of rhythm going is also concerning.

We also saw Sam Darnold throw a pass to the opposition, hitting the defender right between the numbers in three consecutive games now. To state the obvious, this cannot continue.

The Hawks are now exactly where they were after five games last season: 3-2. We know how last season ended. But this team better get things tightened up if they’re going to even approach last season’s results.

• Mike Lefko – Wyman and Bob

The Seahawks have found themselves in an existential crisis when it comes to their offense.

Four turnovers is inexcusable. Four turnovers that led to 21 points is pretty cut and dried for why you lost this game.

At this point, there are foundational concerns you have to address. The run game has given you nothing and the passing attack is anemic. Every question that loomed over the start of the season reared its head today. Without a run game, the Seahawks are one dimensional and we just saw that it won’t play against the best in the NFC.

Hat tip to Nehemiah Pritchett for a career day.

Offense is so vanilla and ultimately disjointed. It appears we are confused about do we want to run the ball up the gut for 2yards or hold the call and take a 20yd shot. We have TE’s, we have speed in Shaheed and Horton but none of those players outside of JSN seem to be in the playbook or OC Flurry and Darnolds minds. Getting beat sucks, beating yourself before by other team can beat you is horrible.
