The Seattle Seahawks designated wide receiver Irv Charles to return to practice on Wednesday.
Seahawks set for major test against 49ers’ sizzling offense
Charles, 29, was placed on the physically unable to perform list with an undisclosed injury to start the season, meaning he had to miss the first four games. The team has 21 days to activate him to the 53-man roster or he will revert to the season-ending injured reserve.
The Seahawks acquired Charles from the Jets in a May trade that sent a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2028 draft to New York.
Charles is expected to be a contributor on special teams for Seattle. Over 25 total games between the 2023 and ’24 seasons with the Jets, he logged 450 snaps, 14 tackles and a blocked punt on special teams. He played just 53 offensive snaps over that time and had zero catches on two targets.
The 6-foot-4 Charles suffered a torn ACL in 2024 that cut his season short and forced him to miss all of 2025.
