Seahawks’ Jaxon Smith-Njigba off to historic 3-game start

Coming off one of the best seasons by a wide receiver in NFL history, Seattle Seahawks star Jaxon Smith-Njigba is somehow off to an even more blistering start in 2026.

Smith-Njigba has 27 catches for 405 yards and six touchdowns through the first three weeks of the season, sitting atop the league leaderboard in all three categories.

Smith-Njigba opened with 122 yards and a touchdown in Seattle’s Week 1 win over the New England Patriots. He followed with 155 yards and three TDs in a Week 2 rout of the Arizona Cardinals. And on Sunday, he finished 128 yards and two TDs in a loss to the Washington Commanders.

Quite simply, it’s one of the best starts to a season by a wide receiver in NFL history. Here’s a closer look.

A historic 3-game start

• Smith-Njigba is just the second player in NFL history with at least 400 receiving yards and six touchdown catches through the first three weeks of a season, according to Stathead. The only other player to achieve that feat was Hall of Fame Indianapolis Colts wideout Marvin Harrison, who had 422 yards and six TDs through the first three weeks of 1999.

• Smith-Njigba is also just the second player in NFL history with at least 120 receiving yards and a touchdown catch in each of the first three weeks of a season. The only other player to do so was Hall of Fame San Francisco 49ers wideout Jerry Rice in 1989.

• Smith-Njigba’s six TD receptions are tied for the most through the first three weeks of a season in NFL history. Detroit’s Calvin Johnson (2011), Harrison (1999), Seattle’s Daryl Turner (1985), the Los Angeles Rams’ Elroy Hirsch (1951) and Green Bay’s Bob Mann (1951) also accomplished that feat.
