Here’s the Seahawks’ initial 53-man roster for 2026

The Seattle Seahawks set their initial 53-man roster for the 2026 season on Sunday.

Seahawks swing trade with Chargers for rookie cornerback

To pare down their roster from 91 players ahead of Sunday’s 3 p.m. NFL cutdown deadline, the Seahawks waived 28 players and released eight vested veterans. They also kept running back Zach Charbonnet on the physically unable to perform list and placed special teams ace Irv Charles on injured reserve with a designation to return.

In addition, the Seahawks swung a trade with the Los Angeles Chargers for undrafted rookie cornerback Avery Smith on Sunday. And after Monday’s 10 a.m. waiver claim deadline, the Seahawks can begin signing players to their 17-man practice squad.

There surely will be plenty more roster shuffling in the coming days, but here’s a look at the initial 53-man roster for the reigning Super Bowl champions.

And yes, preseason standout and “Hard Knocks” star Montorie Foster Jr. made the cut.

NOTE: The following players are vested veterans, meaning they have at least four seasons of accrued service time. These players now immediately become free agents and can sign with any team, though at least several of them seem likely to sign with Seattle’s practice squad until the team can find a more permanent spot for them on the 53-man roster.
