Seahawks sign fullback Brock Lampe with Ouzts sidelined

The Seattle Seahawks signed second-year fullback Brock Lampe on Thursday, which gives the team depth at the position with top fullback Robbie Ouzts sidelined.

To make room on the 90-man roster, the Seahawks waived undrafted tight end Lance Mason.

Ouzts, who missed the NFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl with a neck injury, has missed the past several training camp practices with an undisclosed issue.

“We’re going to try to find some more information with Robbie’s situation,” Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said on Monday. “I’ll just leave it at that right now. But we’ll have an update for you sooner than later.”

Asked about Ouzts again on Wednesday, Macdonald said the team was “still waiting and seeing.”

The 6-foot-1, 249-pound Lampe signed with the New England Patriots last spring as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Illinois. He suffered a leg injury in 2025 training camp and spent his rookie season on injured reserve before being waived by New England last month.

Lampe appeared in 47 consecutive games over his four-year career at Northern Illinois, where he played under then-head coach Thomas Hammock, who joined the Seahawks this offseason as a senior offensive assistant/running backs coach. As a senior in 2024, Lampe helped pave the way for a rushing attack that averaged 203.8 yards per game.

Ouzts, a 2025 fifth-round draft pick out of Alabama, converted to fullback last offseason after playing tight end in college. He logged 203 offensive snaps in 12 games for the Seahawks last year, and there had been speculation he could be ticketed for a larger role this fall under new offensive coordinator Brian Fleury.

After suffering a neck injury during the playoffs, the 6-foot-3, 274-pound Ouzts took part in the Seahawks’ offseason program and the start of training camp before being sidelined.

Aside from Ouzts and Lampe, the other fullback on Seattle’s roster is 6-foot-3, 250-pound Brady Russell, who also converted from tight end last offseason. Russell, the Seahawks’ de facto special teams captain, played just 58 offensive snaps last year.
