Seahawks rookie defensive tackle comes off PUP list

Seattle Seahawks rookie defensive tackle Deven Eastern passed his physical and returned to practice Thursday morning after opening training camp on the physically unable to perform list.

Eastern, a seventh-round draft pick out of Minnesota, missed part of the offseason program this spring with an unspecified injury.

The 6-foot-5, 320-pound Eastern could be part of a crowded competition for the backup nose tackle role behind veteran Jarran Reed. Brandon Pili returns as the favorite to win that job, but Eastern could be in the mix alongside undrafted rookie Uso Seumalo and second-year players J.R. Singleton and Bubba Thomas.

Eastern was a three-year starter at Minnesota. He registered 4.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, five passes defended and two forced fumbles in 45 career games with the Golden Gophers and was an All-Big Ten honorable mention in 2025.
