Lineup: J.P. Crawford returns for Mariners in Game 2 vs Rangers

Shortstop J.P. Crawford is back in the Seattle Mariners’ lineup after missing the past four games with a wrist injury.

Crawford is playing third base and batting eighth in Saturday’s as the M’s continue a crucial series against the American League West-leading Texas Rangers.

Mariners Trade Deadline: 2 teams with bullpen targets

The 31-year-old Crawford last played Sunday in Seattle’s 6-3 win over the San Francisco Giants. He was scratched from the lineup Monday after suffering the wrist injury in batting practice. Crawford is batting .215 with a .690 OPS and 10 homers in 82 games this season.

Cole Young, who is coming off a three-hit night, is set to get his 12th start of the season in the leadoff spot.

Seattle is also giving center fielder Julio Rodríguez a day off from the field. He is in his usual spot in the order batting second as the designated hitter. Luke Raley is in center field and batting seventh.

The Rangers entered play Saturday with a 1 1/2 game lead over the Mariners in the division following Friday’s 5-4 win in the opener of the four-game series. Texas leads the season series 5-2 and needs two wins over the final six games between the teams to clinch the tiebreaker.

Saturday’s matchup between the Mariners and Rangers begins at 4:15 p.m. Radio coverage on Seattle Sports 710 AM and the Seattle Sports app starts with the pregame show at 3 p.m.
