Kraken will face Flames in 2026-27 home opener

The NHL announced the 2026-27 home openers for all 32 teams on Wednesday.

The Seattle Kraken’s home opener will come against the Pacific Division rival Calgary Flames on Oct. 4. The Kraken also will face the Flames in Calgary’s home opener on Oct. 1. The NHL season will begin on Sept. 29.

The NHL will announce its full 2026-27 regular-season schedule at 10 a.m. Thursday. The league is expanding to an 84-game slate for teams this season, up from the previous 82-game slate. The two additional games will come against division foes.

Seattle finished sixth out of eight teams in the Pacific Division with 79 points. Calgary finished seventh with 77 points.

The Kraken are entering their sixth season as a franchise. They reached the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs as a second-year team in 2022-23, but have missed the playoffs each of the past three seasons.
