Josh Naylor is back in the lineup Wednesday as the Seattle Mariners face one of their former pitching prospects in the series finale against the New York Mets.

Naylor is playing first base and batting third. He was pulled from Monday’s game with back spasms after hitting a game-tying home run in the seventh inning and held out of the lineup Tuesday.

Below is a look at rest of the Mariners’ lineup against right-hander Freddy Peralta.

Peralta, 29, was signed by the Mariners as an international free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 2013. He spent three years with the organization before being a part of an infamous trade with the Milwaukee Brewers for first baseman Adam Lind.

Lind hit .239 with a .717 OPS and produced minus-0.3 bWAR in his only season with the Mariners in 2016. Peralta developed into a two-time All-Star for the Brewers and finished fifth in National League Cy Young voting last season.

Peralta, who was traded to New York over the offseason, has a 3.55 ERA in 12 starts this year.

Mets call up former Mariner

The Mariners could see another one of their former pitchers Wednesday as the Mets called up reliever Joey Gerber.

Jonah Tong, who allowed five runs over 3 1/3 innings on Tuesday, was optioned to the minors in a corresponding move.

Gerber, an eighth-round pick by the Mariners in the 2018 draft, appeared in 17 games with a 4.02 ERA over 15 2/3 innings for Seattle in 2020. The right-hander was designated for assignment by the club in 2022.

Gerber appeared in one for the Mets earlier this season, pitching two scoreless innings with five strikeouts against the Dodgers on April 13.

The series finale between the Mariners and Mets starts 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday. Radio coverage on Seattle Sports 710 AM and the Seattle Sports app begins with the pregame show at 11:30 a.m.
