Seahawks designate key special-teamer to return to practice
LB Chazz Surratt, who was placed on IR in late November with an ankle injury, is returning to practice ahead of the Seattle Seahawks' first playoff game.

The Seattle Seahawks designated linebacker Chazz Surratt to return practice from injured reserve on Tuesday as they prepare to face his former team in the divisional round of the NFC playoffs.
One player makes 49ers tougher against Seattle Seahawks this time
Surratt has been out since landing on IR Nov. 26 with an ankle injury suffered in Seattle’s Week 12 win over the Tennessee Titans. The Seahawks have a 21-day window to add him to their active roster.
The 28-year-0ld linebacker was a key special teams player for the Seahawks before the injury, logging 181 of his 188 snaps over 11 games this year in that phase of the game. According to Seahawks.com’s John Boyle, Surratt’s 11 tackles on special teams trail only Brady Russell’s 14.
The Seahawks signed Surratt in August after he was released by the San Francisco 49ers, who Seattle hosts Saturday in the divisional round.
A former quarterback who converted to linebacker during his college days at North Carolina, Surratt was a third-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 2021 where he spent one season before three years with the New York Jets. He had a career-high 28 tackles and two tackles for loss in 17 games for the Jets last season.
Surratt is the ninth player the Seahawks have designated to return from IR this season. Playoffs teams are allowed up to 10 designations throughout the entire season.
