Brock and Salk disagree on Seahawks rookie QB Jalen Milroe

May 18, 2025, 9:18 AM

The Seattle Seahawks’ decision to take Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft has generally been praised.

An underrated advantage in Seahawks’ 2025 schedule

That’s included things said by the two hosts of Seattle Sports’ Brock and Salk. But when Milroe came up on a recent edition of the show’s Buy or Sell segment, Brock Huard and Mike Salk found themselves in disagreement over the rookie quarterback.

Specifically how much they expect him to contribute on the field in 2025.

Milroe is known for his running ability, so while his throwing comes with room for improvement, there’s been a lot of talk about Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak drawing up a package in the playbook to use Milroe as a change of pace who would be more of a run-first QB.

So the question was if Brock and Salk buy that Milroe will have at least four touchdowns for the Seahawks this year.

Salk answered first, and he was emphatic in his response.

“That include running touchdowns? Where do I sign up to buy that sucker?” he said.

Salk then said the word “buy” 13 times in five seconds. Or 14 times. Or…  honestly, went back and tried to count, and regretting it.

Huard seemed to know where the segment was headed next.

“Oh, we’re gonna have so much Jalen Milroe discussion,” the longtime football broadcast analyst and former NFL QB said.

Huard then explained why he was selling on the idea. A big reason is the forgotten man in the Seahawks’ QB room: Drew Lock, who signed in free agency just before the draft to be the backup to new starter Sam Darnold.

“I think they’re gonna be real patient with (Milroe). I think he’ll be inactive for most of the season,” Huard said. “I think Drew Lock will be your backup most of the season.”

Huard then referred to a recent interview Brock and Salk did with former Raiders general manager Mike Mayock, who was also a prominent TV draft analyst prior to his time as an NFL executive.

“As Mike Mayock said, kudos to (Seahawks GM) John Schneider and (coach) Mike Macdonald and everybody else for having vision and doing this the right way and growing (Milroe) the right way,” Huard said. “I’m not throwing him in the fire.”

Salk was caught a bit off-guard by Huard’s take.

“Very surprised,” he said. “Very surprised to hear you go there.”
