Seahawks place TE Will Dissly on injured reserve with knee injury

The Seahawks will be without starting tight end Will Dissly for the remainder of the regular season as the fifth-year player was placed on injured reserve, the team announced Tuesday afternoon.

Dissly, 26, suffered what head coach Pete Carroll called a knee contusion in Saturday’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs during his Monday morning radio show on Seattle Sports 710 AM.

Dissly was a fourth-round pick of the Seahawks in the 2018 NFL Draft out of the University of Washington. While playing for the Huskies, Dissly was initially a defensive lineman before converting to tight end, where he was mostly used as a blocker.

But Dissly showed he could be a receiving threat as a pro, catching eight passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns in his first four NFL games. Unfortunaltely, Dissly would suffer a season-ending knee injury. Then, in 2019, he tore his Achilles tendon after six games.

After playing in 14 games in 2021, Dissly re-signed with the Seahawks on a three-year, $24 million deal. He’s since had his best year, playing in a career-high 15 games while catching 34 passes for 349 yards (both career-highs) and three touchdowns. Dissly ranks fourth on the Seahawks in receptions and fifth in receiving yards this season.

Overall in his career, Dissly has played in 56 games and has 110 catches for 1,249 yards and 12 touchdowns.

With Dissly on injured reserve, the Seahawks promoted cornerback Xavier Crawford to the 53-man roster from the practice squad and signed safety Steven Parker to the practice squad.

The Seahawks still have two tight ends on the 53-man roster in Noah Fant and Colby Parkinson. Tyler Mabry is also on the team’s practice squad.
