The Seahawks entered the offseason looking for help on the defensive line and they are reportedly bringing back an old friend to help in that regard.

Would Browns QB Baker Mayfield be a good fit for the Hawks?

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Seahawks are reuniting with defensive lineman Quinton Jefferson, who spent the 2021 season with the Las Vegas Raiders.

According to Josina Anderson, Jefferson told her he’s signing a two-year deal worth up to $11 million to return to Seattle. Per Anderson, Jefferson is coming back to the Seahawks in part because his old defensive line coach, Clint Hurtt, is Seattle’s new defensive coordinator.

For Jefferson, who turns 29 on March 31, this marks his third stint with the Seahawks.

Seattle drafted the Maryland product in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft and he played three games in his rookie season before he was waived and claimed by the Los Angeles Rams ahead of the 2017 season. His stint in L.A. didn’t last long, and he was signed off the Rams’ practice squad to the Seahawks’ main roster in 2017 without having played a game for the Rams. Jefferson played in just six games for the Seahawks in 2017, but he played 30 games (24 starts) for Seattle between 2018 and 2019, where he recorded 6.5 sacks, 25 QB hits and nine tackles for loss in that span as both a defensive end and defensive tackle.

After 2019, Jefferson signed a two-year deal with the Buffalo Bills, where he made four starts while appearing in all 16 games in 2020 and he recorded three sacks, three tackles for loss and six QB hits.

After being released by the Bills after 2021, Jefferson signed with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he started all 17 games and set career highs in sacks (4.5), QB hits (16) and tied his career high in tackles for loss (five).

What do the Seahawks see in new QB Drew Lock?
