DK Metcalf’s breakout sophomore season in the NFL has earned the Seahawks wide receiver his first big honor as a pro, and it helped Seattle match a record in the process.

Just a week after his 23rd birthday, Metcalf heads up seven Seahawks receiving Pro Bowl honors from the NFC, tying a franchise record. The full list of Seahawks Pro Bowlers is:

• WR DK Metcalf
• QB Russell Wilson
• LB Bobby Wagner
• SS Jamal Adams
• FS Quandre Diggs
• FB Nick Bellore (special teams)
• LS Tyler Ott

Metcalf, Diggs, Bellore and Ott are all first-time selections.

Unlike in previous years, there will be no Pro Bowl game in 2020, but that in a way makes the honor that more prestigious as the final list of selections will be smaller. In an ordinary year, replacements are named for Super Bowl players, injured selections and players who opt out of the game, which occurs annually on the weekend in between the conference championships and Super Bowl.

Metcalf comes out of Seattle’s win over Washington on Sunday ranking fourth in the NFL in receiving yards (1,223) and yards per reception (16.5), tied for fifth in touchdown receptions (10) and 20th in total receptions (74).

The 32-year-old Wilson earns his seventh Pro Bowl nod, making the cut for the fourth year in a row. He is second in the league in touchdown passes (37) and completion percentage (70.2), sixth in passer rating (107.1), seventh in passing yards (3,806) and eight in yards per attempt (7.8).

Wagner, 30, also picks up his seventh Pro Bowl selection, which have all come consecutively. The ninth-year pro is sixth in the NFL with 126 tackles. He also has three sacks, eight passes defensed, and a fumble recovery this season.

Metcalf, Wilson and Wagner have each started all 14 of Seattle’s games this season.

This is the third straight Pro Bowl selection for the 25-year-old Adams, who made the previous two on the AFC team as a member of the New York Jets. The strong safety missed four games due to injury, but that didn’t stop him from setting the NFL record for most sacks in a season by a defensive back in just his ninth game of the year. He has a team-leading 9.5 sacks after tacking on another Sunday against Washington, which ties him for seventh in the league. He also has 72 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 14 QB hits, a forced fumble and two passes defensed.

Diggs, 27, is tied for fourth in the league with four interceptions. A 2019 trade acquisition by Seattle, the sixth-year pro also has nine passes defensed and 52 tackles.

Bellore makes the squad for his work on special teams. He is tied for the team lead with 12 tackles on special teams. The 31 year old is a 10th-year pro in his second season with the Seahawks.

Ott, 28, has snapped all season for kicker Jason Myers and punter Michael Dickson, who are both enjoying career years. Myers hasn’t missed a field goal in 20 attempts, the most for a kicker who has made 100% in 2020, and Dickson has an NFL-best 27 punts inside the opponent’s 20-yard line despite ranking 13th in the league in punts attempted. Ott has played 62 straight games since assuming Seattle’s long snapper role in 2017.
