Former Seahawks defensive back Jordan Babineaux will sign a one-year deal with the Titans, according to his agent.
J.R. Rickert announced the deal Thursday on his website.
According to Rickert, Babineaux turned down more lucrative offers in order to reunite with Titans defensive coordinator Jerry Gray, who spent last season as Seattle’s secondary coach. In Tennessee, Babineaux will also join former Seahawks teammate Matt Hasselbeck.
Babineaux, 28, spent seven seasons with the Seahawks. His penchant for key plays in clutch moments, especially early in his career, earned him the nickname “Big Play Babs.”
“Good luck to Big Play Babs in Tenn… Good player and good locker room guy,” Seahawks wide receiver Mike Williams wrote on Twitter.
Note: ESPN’s John Clayton reported Thursday afternoon that according to a source, Babineaux was going to re-sign with the Seahawks. Clayton later said that he had received bad information.
