Mariners’ Hernandez, Cano grace Sports Illustrated cover

If you need proof that the Mariners are entering the 2015 season with big expectations, one look at the latest cover of Sports Illustrated will take of it.

The Mariners are one of four teams to be featured on regional covers of SI’s MLB preview edition, with Felix Hernandez and Robinson Cano gracing the magazine on newstands in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Hawaii and Alaska.

The other covers feature the Kansas City Royals, Cleveland Indians and Washington Nationals.

The Mariners, who open the 2015 slate on Monday, April 6 at Safeco Field in a 1:10 p.m. game vs. the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, are expected to compete this season for their first postseason berth since 2001.
