One look at the video above, and it’s easy to see why Stefan Frei was named the MVP in the Seattle Sounders’ MLS Cup championship victory.
Frei’s otherworldly one-handed save in the second extra time period was the play of the game, and it kept Toronto FC scoreless, allowing the Sounders to force a shootout in which Roman Torres scored the deciding tally in sudden death.
Frei made seven saves to lead Seattle to its first MLS Cup title, a fact made all the more sweet considering Toronto is the team that traded him to the Sounders for a SuperDraft pick three years ago – to the day.
